ROLE: Technical Specialist - Systems Safety & Assessor
SALARY: Competitive salary + bonus, healthcare, life assurance, dental etc
LOCATION: West Midlands

As Technical Specialist for safety you will be the recognized technical expert and leader for a market leading automotive business, managing the global product lines. You will be responsible for assessing and determining compliance to the company's Safety Case Policy for the product lines. Furthermore, you will take responsibility for improving the processes, presenting the company's Safety Process to customers, and presenting the company's Safety position, verbally and in writing. You will also resolve conflicts of requirements for Safety with the customer as may arise, including when and how to address critical system safety topics with customers as well as representing the company in European forums. You will provide training, coaching and expert technical resource for the Safety Managers in the product lines. You will manage the Systems Safety Assessment Budget and functionally manage 6 staff. You will take responsibility for re-use of safety cases and re-use of designs through advice, metrics reporting and timely escalation.

The ideal candidate:
Degree in Engineering or computer science, or ideally post bachelor degree in Engineering, Maths, or computer science
Considerable experience in the automotive industry
Safety Analysis leadership experience.
Experience of electronics manufacturing and validation processes.
Experience of a product introduction process
Experience with products for use in a harsh environment.
Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
Able to communicate and influence all levels within the company and customer's organization
Problem solving skills.
Aware of financial and commercial impact of engineering decisions.
Consultancy skills and ability/drive to keep abreast of technological and safety developments
Computer literacy.
Ability to create and manage a budget
Project management skills
Preferably be Certified Six Sigma Green belt.
Willing and able to travel (both UK and abroad)
