ROLE: Senior Engineer - Electronics Design
SALARY: £25,000 - £32,000+ bonus, overtime, pension, dentla, healthcare etc
LOCATION: Leighton Buzzard
As Senior Engineer (Electronics Design) you will take responsibility for the new design and maintenance of designs of digital and analogue board-level circuitry and PCB assemblies within the client range of products. To keep abreast of technological developments within the electronics field. To understand the overall function of the product and its role in the aircraft or other end product system.
Principle Accountabilities:
To perform electronic design for client products. To meet the specification requirements for these designs and to demonstrate this by design analysis reports and records. To meet the cost, size, and weight goals of the product.
To give technical guidance in the work of other engineers involved in the electronics design process.
To understand the interfaces between the circuitry and external system and between the analogue and digital circuitry and to collaborate with the mechanical and system design groups to produce effective overall designs for end products.
To specify custom components (hybrids, etc).
To understand the operation of electronic components as needed to do effective troubleshooting, identify alternative components, and suggest improvements to suppliers
To identify and perform the necessary analysis and testing in order to verify and demonstrate correct circuit performance. This includes Worst-Case analysis, RSS, Monte Carlo, steady-state and transient thermal, etc.
To prepare the necessary reports and release documentation, and hold the reviews needed to bring the design to Production Standard.
To use appropriate Computer-Aided Design tools and make recommendations for tool improvement / change.
To apply structured problem-solving methods to technical problems when appropriate.
To prepare work plans and estimates of cost and time required to realise a design.
To assist in evaluating customer specifications for future projects.
To progress the development and validation of these designs until they are qualified and accepted in Production Standard units.
To understand the system application of the design and to collaborate with the integration and systems groups to produce effective system designs for end products.
To be aware of cost, timescale, weight, reliability, and maintainability criteria and to collaborate with other members of the project team in order to meet the overall project requirements.
To follow clients operating procedures and participate in engineering improvement activities aimed at increasing efficiency and quality of work.
Basic Qualifications : Essential Requirements:
A high level of expertise in electronic design requirements capture, design and systems/product integration is required e.g. degree level qualification as a minimum.
Demonstrable practical experience of analogue, digital, or mixed-signal BOARD LEVEL design for embedded applications.
Experience in electronics design for harsh environments (extreme temperatures, vibration levels, etc.)
Experience in design of products (not only test equipment) for the Aerospace or Automotive industry, preferably in the area of actuator system motor drives, electrical power generation or distribution systems.
A proactive style, team spirit, high energy level, and positive outlook.
Successful candidates must meet requirements of ITAR
Desirable Attributes:
Knowledge of or experience with the following software tools: Cadence Concept (schematic capture), PSPICE (circuit simulation), Saber (circuit simulation), Mathcad, Simulink, Matlab, DOORS.
An understanding of electrical generator operation.
Experience in design of safety-critical systems.
Familiarity with RTCA/DO-254.
A good track record of design for EMC.
Experience in military or civilian flight operations or maintenance.
