The role of Development Engineer offers an integral role in a responsive, customer-oriented environment responsible for planning, coordinating and reporting development of specialist steering systems and subcomponents to ensure that they comply with internal, customer and legal requirements in accordance with company and customer procedures and specifications. The nature of the operation requires someone who is adaptable, can work under pressure, has good planning and organisational skills and can communicate well with all levels of business. The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting the design and development of next generation of specialist systems The role will be involved in the full cycle of product development - taking a given vehicle geometry and supporting the development, documentation, validation, design reviews through CV/DV/PV project phases. The motor team, projects, and suppliers, are globally distributed. Occasional travel may be required to support engineering issues and provide technical expertise

The ideal candidate:
Degree in Engineering or relevant subject; a good understanding of test theory, reliability theory and statistics is important.
Solid practical experience in a development or validation environment.
Ability to produce clear and accurate technical reports to an extremely high standard.
Operational experience with excellent leadership, planning and communication skills
Conscientious self-starter with attention to detail, accuracy and record-keeping.
A willingness to travel abroad occasionally and work overtime, sometimes at short notice, is essential, along with a track record of "getting the job done".
