A high calibre engineer with good management capabilities is sought to join a team of highly skilled and motivated engineers in the design and development of high-performance electric drive systems.

You will be responsible to the Magnetics Team Leader of the Electric Drives Group and manage the electromagnetic design, analysis and requirements definition for electric motors and actuators for cost-sensitive, high volume safety-critical automotive applications and for external consultancy projects in the aerospace and industrial fields. Another significant aspect of the role will involve the analysis and selection of magnetic materials and supervision of magnetic material testing.

The ideal candidate:
1st Class Electrical Engineering/Physics Degree
Solid experience in electromagnetic finite element modelling
Solid experience of magnetic material testing and analysis
Familiarity with commercial electromagnetic finite element modelling packages such as Slim and Mega
Experience of electromagnetic design optimisation including the writing of bespoke finite-element modelling software tools
Experience in designing test rigs for magnetic testing applications
Good Matlab programming skills for finite element model optimisation and data post-processing would be very useful
Formal management training an advantage
