Role: Senior Materials Scientist

To provide a lead technical role in the development of innovative materials, coatings and processes in support of future Fuel Injection technologies.

Responsibilities include:
" To carry out failure analysis on site using a range of techniques e.g. SEM, white light interferometric microscope & metallurgical examination.
" To provide support to the company engineering departments on heat treatment and metallic materials issues, this will include developing laboratory testing to aid predictive analysis.
" To provide initiatives for the company HDB on coating of metallic surfaces in support of future FIE requirements.
" To provide initiatives on new materials technologies in support of future fuel injection technology requirements
" Approval of non-metallic materials for the company
" To maintain all necessary quality standard in the materials laboratory in support of maintaining TS16949 (and ISO 17025?) accreditation
" To provide information and proactive tests on the effects of fuels on materials including HFRR testing
" To maintain and develop measurement techniques for metallics
" Co-ordinate subcontract Testing (and other R & D investigative techniques) at approved testing organisations
" Timely reporting of findings to project to teams/customers

The ideal candidate:
" 2:1 Degree in Metallurgy or materials science.
" Relevant industrial experience, preferably in an automotive environment.

Candidates should demonstrate:
Strong IT capability including MS Word; Excel and Access would be a benefit
