An exciting opportunity to join a world-class team responsible for delivering mechanical design solutions for a wide range of Electronic Controllers and Electronic Power Packs. Ouir client is one of the worlds largest producers of vehicle safety systems supplying a wide range of vehicle manufacturers including VW, Ford, GM, Mercedes, Peugeot, Renault and Fiat. The design of these products is performed in the company's prestigious technical centre in the West Midlands, home of high tech Engineering Research & Development activities for over 40 years.
This is a very fast-paced sector requiring advanced product-design and problem-solving skills for programmes with short design cycle times and high production volumes. The role involves mechanical design and packaging of electronics and integration of electric motors and sensors, whilst achieving optimised manufacturability to demanding safety and quality standards.
Our client is looking for an experience Mechanical Design Engineer, however they will also consider an ambitious fresh graduate with a good degree (1st class or 2:1) in a relevant engineering discpline (mechancial engineering, automotive engineering, design engineering) and good experience of Catia and preferably ansys.
What youll do:
Lead design of assemblies and components for Electronic Controllers for Active and Passive Safety systems
Lead design robustness analysis activities including DFMEA & Assembly Tolerance analysis
Deploy relevant design, development and problem solving tools to achieve Right First Time solutions
Work with Electronics and Electric Drive Engineering teams to develop Controllers and Integrated Electronic Power Packs
Support Global Electronics manufacturing to improve and maintain manufacturability
Represent Mechanical Engineering at Customer and Internal design & development reviews
Support improvements to departmental working tools and practices
What we are looking for
Mechanical/design engineering degree
Experience of high volume mechanical design & demonstrable knowledge manufacturing technologies
Skilled in 3D CAD modelling (preferably Catia V5 R19) & Geometric Dimension & Tolerance Techniques
Flexibility to adapt in an exciting fast paced working environment & Willingness to travel
Experience of high volume manufacture of electronics assemblies, design of electromechanical components and interfaces
Experience of Assembly design including mechanical joining technologies 6Ã³ Green Belt certified
