As a Senior Electronics Engineer with a world leader in automotive safety systems you will operate as part of a group developing electronic control unit designs for a range of products from our clients Powertrain portfolio. You will undertake ECU application design and development activities for market leading solutions in a dynamic, multi-project, multi-disciplined environment.

Key to the role is a strong understanding of electronic circuit design (including microcontrollers, and power electronics), processes and tools. The majority of the work will be related to design and development of analogue circuits to interface to the micro core, for example power switching circuits, analogue sensor decodes and switched mode power supplies. The role may also provide the opportunity for supervisory experience.

What youll do:
Electronic Circuit Design: Design and development of electronic circuit blocks, covering a wide range of analogue, digital and power technologies, for high volume, safety critical automotive control systems. Good understanding of electronic components and manufacturing assembly techniques and processes is essential
Electronic Circuit Analysis: Tolerance analysis, worse case analysis and circuit simulation are key to the role
Safety and Reliability Analysis: Performing block level and component level design FMEA, FTA, reliability analysis in support of ISO 26262/IEC61508 work packages and analysis
Generation of Requirements, Design Descriptions and Test Specifications: Generating documentation in support of ZF-TRW procedures and engineering design and development activities
Verification and Test: Generate test plans and conduct test / verification programmes to ensure designs are fit for purpose and conform to design requirements
Manage other team members and external contract functions. Manage programmes and development activities
Support customers and suppliers
Support the introduction of products into serial production at production plants worldwide
we are looking for:

Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject
Experienced in detailed electronic circuit design, simulation, analysis and product validation in a high volume high reliability market
Good knowledge of analogue sensor interfaces, power switching circuits and switched mode power supply design
Experienced in key safety analysis processes such as FMEA
Excellent communication skills; particularly reporting
Competent in use of office productivity tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint
Self motivated with a willingness to push existing boundaries and learn / develop new skills
Willing and able to travel overseas to support customers, suppliers and manufacturing sites

Automotive system and design experience such as requirements capture and management
Member of relevant professional body such as the IET
